To implement the core values of CSR and integrity, Delta revised the Delta Human Rights and Employment Policy in 2019 to provide the basic standard norms and common commitments that all employees should abide by at work and during business activities. The goals include:
- Diversity of employee composition and anti-discrimination.
- Prohibition of child labor and prevention of forced labor.
- Provision of a healthy and safe work environment.
- Establishment of a global feedback and whistle-blowing channel.
Delta is committed to promoting labor-management communication and a human rights-friendly management. It has not only promoted protections through policy but has established a positive two-way communication mechanism on the implementation side. Delta's global collective bargaining agreement and union coverage rate is 74%, creating a highly participatory work environment. Employees can also express their opinions through diversified communication channels, including regular labor-management meetings and Welfare Committee meetings, employee representative seminars, and employee opinions mailboxes. Delta keeps confidential and handles complaints or incident information carefully to implement a whistle-blowing system appropriately.
To implement the internal review mechanism for labor ethics, various locations around the world have conducted 13 relevant internal assessments and 114 external audits, and adopted various mitigation measures based on risk assessments, including labor, ethics, and management systems. Improving the deficiencies found in the internal reviews ensures that the company's operations comply with local laws and international standards.
Through human rights due diligence, Delta has identified several key human rights issues such as the prohibition of child labor, non-discrimination, prevention of sexual harassment, illegal abuse in the workplace, pregnancy and postpartum care, and employment of disabled employees and indigenous employees, and sets various goals accordingly.
For human rights education and training, Delta promoted the education and training of human rights courses through the learning platform of Academy in 2019, so that all employees could clearly understand their rights and the company's human rights policies. The total number of hours of global human rights education and training courses was 70,435, and 110,403 people were trained.
