Employee Composition

High degree of international talents and gender balance

Delta employs over 80,000 people around the world. Its main operating headquarters in Taiwan coordinates strategic development, logistics operations, product development, and marketing business across the globe. Overseas branches are located in the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Japan, mainland China, Thailand, India, Singapore, and other places.

Male employees account for 55% of the total while female employees are 45%; the age structure of its employees tends to be younger, with young people under 30 accounting for 41.1%, 55.4% for those between 30 and 50, and only 3.5% for those who are 50 or older.A high degree of internationalization is one of Delta's features, and employees from diverse cultural backgrounds can be seen working together at different operating sites.

Talent Training and Development

Strong leadership, technical skills, and brand business power

In recent years, Delta has actively transformed itself from OEM manufacturing to a brand business and solution provider. To help talents obtain appropriate learning and development resources during the organization's expansion, transformation, and technological upgrading, Delta assists its employees with a smooth transformation through "key talent review in batches," "key talent cultivation in the solution business," and "three strategic key courses."

Delta continues to focus on the three major learning areas: leadership, technical skills, and brand business power as the training direction according to the company's strategy. In terms of learning planning, it has a complete training roadmap. For example, the Dongguan Plant has offered basic, medium and advanced courses required for its 18 position grades, respectively.

In 2019, Delta’s global training expenditure reached US$10,330,748 (including teaching materials, employee training travel expenses, instructors' wages and travel expenses, and global training time input costs), and the average training time per person worldwide was 47 hours.

Human Rights Protection and Management

Total number of courses was 70,435 and 110,403 people were trained

To implement the core values of CSR and integrity, Delta revised the Delta Human Rights and Employment Policy in 2019 to provide the basic standard norms and common commitments that all employees should abide by at work and during business activities. The goals include:

  • Diversity of employee composition and anti-discrimination.
  • Prohibition of child labor and prevention of forced labor.
  • Provision of a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Establishment of a global feedback and whistle-blowing channel.

Delta is committed to promoting labor-management communication and a human rights-friendly management. It has not only promoted protections through policy but has established a positive two-way communication mechanism on the implementation side. Delta's global collective bargaining agreement and union coverage rate is 74%, creating a highly participatory work environment. Employees can also express their opinions through diversified communication channels, including regular labor-management meetings and Welfare Committee meetings, employee representative seminars, and employee opinions mailboxes. Delta keeps confidential and handles complaints or incident information carefully to implement a whistle-blowing system appropriately.

To implement the internal review mechanism for labor ethics, various locations around the world have conducted 13 relevant internal assessments and 114 external audits, and adopted various mitigation measures based on risk assessments, including labor, ethics, and management systems. Improving the deficiencies found in the internal reviews ensures that the company's operations comply with local laws and international standards.

Through human rights due diligence, Delta has identified several key human rights issues such as the prohibition of child labor, non-discrimination, prevention of sexual harassment, illegal abuse in the workplace, pregnancy and postpartum care, and employment of disabled employees and indigenous employees, and sets various goals accordingly.

For human rights education and training, Delta promoted the education and training of human rights courses through the learning platform of Academy in 2019, so that all employees could clearly understand their rights and the company's human rights policies. The total number of hours of global human rights education and training courses was 70,435, and 110,403 people were trained.
