Since 2016, 100% of Delta's plants have passed ISO 14064-1
greenhouse gas certification. Delta also took the lead in
proposing a target of reducing carbon intensity by 56.6% by 2025
with 2014 as the base year in line with a science-based target
method. In December 2017, it passed the compliance review by the
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as the first company in
Taiwan and the 87th in the world to have passed the review.
Delta's carbon reduction strategy focuses on in-plant energy
management, supplemented by the introduction of green power. In
2019, its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions in all
plants were 258,120 metric tons of CO2e (market-based), a decrease
of 20% compared to the previous year, while carbon intensity (CI)
decreased by 29% compared to the SBT base year of 2014, achieving
the SBTs for two consecutive years. In 2019, the results of the
reduction even surpassed the absolute emissions target of 1.5°C,
which demonstrated Delta's determination to achieve SBTs.
